The top of the implant sits level with the jawbone. This gives the dentist the most freedom to shape the gum for a natural look, which is why it is the most common type today.

What the connection means
A small six-sided nut on top of the implant. This is the original Brånemark design from the 1960s. Still used for full-arch and zygomatic work.
About the surface
An oxidised (anodised) surface with a porous, volcano-like texture. It has been on the market since 2000 and has a large body of research.
