Sinus lift
Adding bone under the sinus so that implants can be placed in the upper back jaw.
What it is
The upper back teeth sit just under the sinus. When those teeth are lost, the bone thins. A sinus lift gently raises the sinus lining and places bone graft underneath.
Two methods
- Crestal (internal) lift – done through the implant hole, for small amounts of bone.
- Lateral window – a small window in the side of the jaw, for larger amounts.
Every mouth is different. A dentist can only recommend a treatment after examining you and taking X-rays.
