Zygomatic implants
Long implants anchored in the cheekbone for people with severe upper-jaw bone loss.
What it is
Zygomatic implants are 30–52 mm long and are anchored in the cheekbone instead of the upper jaw. They allow fixed teeth even when there is almost no upper jawbone, often without grafting.
Things to know
This is specialist surgery, usually done under sedation or general anaesthetic by an oral surgeon with specific training. Ask how many zygomatic cases the surgeon has done.
Every mouth is different. A dentist can only recommend a treatment after examining you and taking X-rays.
